Yes, they can. Not to be insulting, but are you cleansing yourself properly? You do know to wipe from front to back, right? And to use more tissue if it is required, rather than just folding and rewiping? You’d be surprised that some women don’t! Also, be careful of the kind of sexual activity you engage in with your partner. If there is any anal contact such as “spooning” where the penis is rubbed against the anus it can carry bacterial from the anus to the vagina, so avoid that. Use latex condoms, that just makes sense for protection from STDs and bathe regularly. Avoid the use of bath products that can cause irritation, like bubble baths. Use a panty shield and change your underwear daily. Change tampons every 4 hours just to be sure. Sometimes doctors use the term “nonspecific vaginosis” instead of bacterial vaginosis. Question your boyfriend to see a urologist and make sure he is practicing excellent hygiene habits also. Again, not implying that either of you are nasty, but several bouts of this affect up requires more diligence.
Yes, and I suggest you use protection, my friend had this problem and she kept on getting them frequently, come to find out that he was getting it from some other girl….now don’t go whopping his ass just yet lol. He could have this from a past relationship, but just to be safe, always wrap it up!
yes, bv can be voted for back and forth. people who haven’t had sex get bv too. there is still research going on as to why bv happens. meds can suppress the symptoms but like any other infection reocurrs. my advice is to eat yogurt and make probiotics everyday, you can find them in health food stores, and wear cotton underwear , air the vagina out at nite, wear pads that are cotton and wear loose clothing. use unscented soap when you bathe or take a shower and most of all wash the vagina with water and after you’ve had sex. antibiotics can do so much, and you don’t want to take too much because you’ll be more out of balance and it’ll be longer to cure and my advice is take the supplements I’ve suggested with the antibiotics because antibiotics can cure the bacteria, but yeast can happen, especially if it’s broad spectrum and flagyl(metronidazole) can do that and you don’t want to go through the stress of reinfectiong yourself and most of all exercise, that’ll get the yeast balance. I’ve had patients where BV and yeast happens and that takes a small longer to cure. BV is cured with flagyl or clindamycin(clindesse). Wash only with water and when you use pads or tampons they should be unscented and used for 4 hours only. Wipe from front to back, not from back to from, you’ll get a yeast infection this way.

If BV can be transmitted back and forth then how is it that the ER people are telling me that my husband can not recieve it in the first place?
One really gets BV from improper imbalance of the hormones. This can be anything from terrible hygiene, unhealthy cleaning habits, foods etc…A man can have one of this and it affects his bodily fluids.
That is why you read many cases stating that one starts noticing getting bv after intercourse with a certain man. It probably means that his body is not getting the right nutrients or terrible cleaning habits affecting his inner body.
